Christmas Cards 2009

Would you like to get started on your Christmas cards for 2009? Christmas comes around too quickly, and before you know it there are parties to go to and presents to buy, and no time to make cards. Here are a few ideas.

If you would like to make Christmas cards like these, book into a card class soon.

"CASE-ing" myself

An acronym often heard in the cardmaking and scrapbooking community is "CASE", which stands for "Copy and Share Everything", or "Copy and Steal Everything". In this instance, I'm actually basing cards on something I've made previously.

This is another version of a card I did earlier in the year, which you can see in this post. The variation being that I've added another colour of cardstock, Apricot Appeal, as a mat. The vertical panel has been changed from Whisper White on the original card to Tempting Turquoise, and a white gel pen has been used to add on the flowers which have been stamped in Versamark.

I had a few card kits left for these basic cards, the originals of which can be seen in this earlier post. I use the card kits to demonstrate simple card techniques at stamping parties. As both Petal Prints and Artfully Asian stamp sets are now unavailable, I decided to use Heartfelt Thanks, which is an oldie but a goodie, and still current.

So don't worry if you want to make a card like one from a blog or a magazine, and you don't have the same stamp sets - just use what you have and you can come up with a nice variation.

June Scrapbooking Retreat

Are you behind on getting your photos into photo safe albums?  Whether your scrapbooking style is simple or fancy, we all need to set aside time to complete our albums.

Over the last few years, I've been fortunate enough to attend a long weekend scrapbooking retreat with some other scrapbookers.  At these events I've managed to get lots of ideas and inspiration to get lots of pages done in my scrapbook albums.  We've also shared stories, laughed a lot, and enjoyed the break from husbands and kids!

This year, we will be hosting a Scrapbooking Retreat in my brand new house and studio, at 2 Parsons Grove, Park Holme.

Dates: From 3pm Friday 5th June until 5pm Monday 8th June.

Meals:  Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast and lunch and dinner, Sunday breakfast and lunch and dinner, Monday breakfast and lunch.

Accommodation options:  Sleep in your own bed and travel to and from my place each day (leave your scrapbooking gear here), or BYO bedding and sleep on a fold-out bed in the house.

Cost:  $25 to cover meals and snacks.  Spaces are limited, and bookings are essential.  Email me if you are interested, and I will send you further details such as what to bring, and the proposed menu.

If you are unable to attend the whole weekend but would like to come along for a day, let me know and we can work something out.

The finished cards from the One Sheet Wonder

The cards shown above are made with the panels from the One Sheet Wonder, plus coordinating cardstock. The colours used are Taken With Teal, Apricot Appeal, Certainly Celery and Tempting Turquoise. With a couple of them I used Whisper White as the base card colour. I used all of the panels cut from the one sheet wonder, only trimming off a small amount on a couple of them to suit the card.

One Sheet Wonder

I've seen different versions of this idea on blogs, so I thought I'd have a go myself.

For this set of cards I've used the Friendly Flowers set from the Summer Mini Catalogue, which finishes on March 31 (so if you want to order it, you'd better do so asap).

I used one A4 sheet of Whisper White cardstock, and stamped the images using Tempting Turquoise, Certainly Celery and Apricot Appeal stamp pads. Some of the images have been stamped off first so as to make the image a lighter colour.

I also overlapped some of the images to fill in the white areas more.

Then I cut the A4 sheet into various sized panels, which will be used to make several different cards. I didn't do any real measuring apart from when I cut a panel into thirds. I just cut each piece in half, then in half again.

The picture at the top of the post shows 3 cards made with panels from this sheet, I've still got a few more cards to finish, so I'll post pictures of them when I can.
